FRIBIS Summer School 2023 Part 1/3 – How to Build a UBI Pilot
10. Juli 2023 @ 00:00 - 11. Juli 2023 @ 00:00 CEST
The FRIBIS Summer School 2023 “Empirical methods of UBI investigations” is divided into three parts, and FRIBIS is pleased to invite you to the first part: “How to Build a Pilot”. The second part of this Summer School will cover the topic of “The Social Contract: a Behavioural Economics Approach with Lab Experiments“, and the third “Microsimulation and Social Welfare Maximization.” ‘How to Build a Pilot’ will be delivered by a team of researchers with international experience in UBI and cash transfer piloting. Background and Content Policy-makers and civil society actors around the world are realising that traditional social protection systems are broken. In the wake of Covid, and with economic and ecological crises intensifying, these systems are being exposed as inefficient, ineffective and unjust. Policy-makers and civil society are therefore turning in increasing numbers towards UBI as a potential alternative. This is leading to rapidly rising interest in UBI pilots, with trials proposed or in the pipeline on all continents. However, there is limited publicly-available knowledge about how exactly to go about designing a pilot, about which of the many methods are most appropriate, and about the ethics of pilot research itself. Date and Location (hybrid) The Summer School will run from 9am until 5pm on July 10th, 2023. It will take place onsite in KL Freiburg, Saal Schönberg, Kartäuserstraße 41, 79102 Freiburg. Online: https://uni-freiburg.zoom.us/j/68104354448?pwd=QUtiUXFTTDQ2NGt1YjRzTVQrWWFGUT09 Programme Sessions will be delivered in-person by Drs. Neil Howard and Sarath Davala
